Current cordless tattoo machines - Let's move towards freedom!
Many global tattoo machine manufacturers are moving towards freedom. Wired machines are a thing of the past. We inform you about all current cordless tattoo machines.
Editor's note: The manufacturers mentioned are listed in alphabetical order.
The WAND series from Bishop Rotary
(is not cordless)
Since 2009, Bishop Rotary has been producing tattoo machines in the USA under the leadership of Franco Vescovi. He has been passionately living the craft of a tattoo artist for over 25 years. The man knows what he is doing. And he is sure to know what you need as a tattoo artist. Unfortunately, there is no battery-powered tattoo machine from Bishop Rotary yet. You know that, we know that. But the three models still show up here because they are state-of-the-art tattoopens that fit into this age despite being corded. We hope that Franco will launch a battery-powered model as the next highlight.
In the past, Franco tells us, there were different machines for different tattoo jobs. A spool machine for lining, another for colorpacking and one for creating black & grey artwork. When the Rotary machine hit the market in 2010/2011, tattoo artists found it popular to do all the work with just one machine. No problem for Franco and many others of you. But many tattoo artists compromised too much with this way of tattooing. For this reason, Bishop Rotary stands above tattoo styles and against popular developments.
His machines are made from high quality aircraft grade aluminium. They are strong, efficient and robust tattoo machines. This is also the case with the WAND series, which unfortunately is not battery-powered.
What makes the WAND so special? The difference is the motor, in two custom-made FAULHAUBER motors to be exact. For over 4 years Franco experimented with countless motors and prototypes. Always with the goal in mind to develop the perfect cordless tattoo machine in pen form for tattoo artists. A lot of feedback from fellow tattoo artists all over the world and his experience resulted in 3 machine versions: the WAND Shader, Packer and Liner.
Each WAND features a custom FAULHABER motor that magically optimizes torque, speed and rated voltage and is paired with just the right stroke: 3.5mm, 4.2mm or a crazy 5.0mm!
You can order a WAND Tattoopen especially for colorpacking with orange aluminium tape, for lining with black aluminium tape and for shading with grey aluminium tape.
The packer has been developed to create color realistic and both modern and traditional color packings. A fixed 4.2 mm stroke is integrated.
The liner is suitable for all types of linings, dotwork, blackwork and traditional tattoos. A fixed 5 mm stroke is integrated.
The Shader with a stroke of 3,5 mm you can create perfect Black and Grey Work, Greywash and Fineline Tattoos with the WAND Shader.

Equaliser Neutron Pen - favourite in terms of price-performance ratio
We have already dedicated a blog to the Neutron Pen by Equaliser.
The battery-operated Neutron Tattoopen by Equaliser is the successor of the Wireless V2 Stick* and fits comfortably and ergonomically in the hand. The ergonomics of the grip were explicitly designated as a development detail by the manufacturer. The circuit board has also been changed and is now more resistant and stable. At 170 grams, the Tattoopen weighs more than other machines in its class. Nevertheless, it is well balanced, there is a good working radius, no cable to get in the line of sight on the way to another individual work of art and another happy customer. The design is modern - the Tattoopen is robust and purposeful, available in red, silver and black. We recommend this machine especially to beginners in this creative industry. An unbeatable price-performance ratio allows a financially manageable start. Test yourself and see if this work is something for you in the long run with the Neutron Pen by Equaliser. An additional tip from us: Equaliser belongs to the Kwadron Group, which apart from machines also develops cartridges, tattoo needles and a lot of low-priced tattoo furniture.
*Editor's note: The Wireless V2 Stick is no longer available..

The SOL Nova Unlimited is the manufacturer's first cordless tattoo machine. The Unlimited 3.5 has a stroke of 3.5 mm, which provides a good balance between lining and shading.
